Black&Yellow, Black&Yellow.

What began as a morning of dense fog and crispy air, turned out to be a splendid clear sky by mid-afternoon.

It was heavenly. It's like my bright yellow leggings whispered give me some sun, sugar and the sun replied  be patient young soul, and at the end of every storm will come a rainbow.

Plus, there's nothing like our classic black and white with an intense pop of colour thrown in to brighten your day.

Also..It's day three of my Dresses for Lesses challenge and so far, I'm sticking it through. How are you doing?

What I Wore: collection of new and vintage chunky necklaces, polka dotted BETSEY JOHNSON dress (used), bright yellow leggings, and black RALPH LAUREN flats (used).

Once Upon a Time..

Once upon a time, there was a girl who liked to wear retro green sunglasses and big floral print dresses.

A girl who proudly wore her denim Barbie jacket, a Barbie girl all to the end.

A girl who liked to smile a lot and laugh at cats chasing their tails.

That girl is me. And that girl is loving life.

What I wore: retro lime green sunglasses (used), bright floral LILLY PULIZTER dress (used), denim BARBIE jacket (used), sparkly BANANA REPUBLIC belt (super sale), and sequined pink SPERRY TOPSIDERS (used).

Dresses for Lesses Challenge.

I have decided to put together a little challenge this week. Now who knows who may follow suit besides myself, but I welcome you to give it a try!

The challenge is... dresses for lesses. it began as a challenge to wear dresses all week long (after a lovely day in Anchorage yesterday where people complimented my dress attire). And then I thought yes, I have loads of dresses, that'll be easy. let's spice things up a bit and went even further to all the dresses being used.

Yup. Thrift, consignment, borrowed, all recycled dresses. How fun does that sound?

So join me on this dresses for lesses challenge. It gives you an excuse to dress up any old day, and at the same time, you're being green!

What I wore: misc sunglasses (SD find), floral LEIFNOTES dress (used, and very much reminiscent of a certain Quinn Fabray), sparkly bronze J CREW loafers (super sale), and coral KATE SPADE bag (gift).

A Song for Sunday- Scare Away the Dark.

It's out! It's out. Passenger's incredible new album Whispers is finally out and ready to listen to.

Wow. What a powerful album. Let me rephrase: a  powerful fifth studio album.

Passenger is just so talented. There's something true and heartfelt about his songwriting. Honest to goodness, his music gives me goosebumps. Of course there's some somber stuff, but it all has meaning. It has depth, it means something.

Man, and to chose just one song on this album? Exceedingly difficult to chose just one when they all tear at my heartstrings; however, today's choice, being the most popular, is also the most meaningful to me.

It was in South Dakota that I actually really listened to this song. It's as bright as day what the message is. I just want to share it with everyone, make them see!

Basically, the song is about stepping away from the devices, from the screens and the expected ways of carrying out one's life, and to enjoy it.

"We wish our weekdays away
Spend our weekends in bed
Drink ourselves stupid
And work ourselves dead
And all just because that's what mom and dad said we should do

We should run through the forest
We should swim in the streams
We should laugh, we should cry,
We should love, we should dream
We should stare at the stares and not just the screens
You should hear what I'm saying and know what it means.."

I do! I understand.

But seriously- I've noticed a lot lately, especially in restaurants and in the coffee shop, that families and couples are sitting there together, across from each other, and every single one of them is on their devices. It simply breaks my heart.

What happened to playing games outside? To wading through the creeks and splashing around? To simply putting down one's phone and talking to the person you've just been stalking on Instagram? Honestly. I don't get it. I love Passenger, and he hits a lot of points in this song. In his true and blunt manner, he talks about less electronics and more playing, appreciating life and not being scared of what's out there, not conforming to the standards of the world or the pressures of being someone else, and seeing the beauty of living life to its fullest, like its meant to be lived, and not through screens.

"Well, we wish we were happier, thinner and fitter,
We wish we weren't losers and liars and quitters
We want something more not just nasty and bitter
We want something real not just hash tags and Twitter

It's the meaning of life and it's streamed live on YouTube
But I bet Gangnam Style will still get more views
We're scared of drowning, of flying and shooters
But we're all slowly dying in front of fucking computers.."

Preach it. Preach it loud and clear because if we all light up, we can scare away the dark.

A Song for Sunday- Somebody to You.

I thought it was over.

I did. How I ever thought so is beyond me.

I mean, seriously, I'm eighteen years old and a young adult. How could I still get excited over the discovery of new boy bands? Aren't I supposed to be over that?

Apparently not.

It was all thanks to the lovely Conor Maynard. I was just settling down for my mid afternoon nap the other day, scrolling through my Instagram (as habit before falling asleep) and I stumbled upon a photo of his-

"I'm #FeelingNuts to raise awarenessfor Testicular Caner. I nominate @wearethevamps to top this fabulous ball grab!! #ballstocaner @check_onetwo"

Naturally curious as to who these "vamps" were, I checked em out. And then, after seeing that they were an "acoustic driven indie pop band from England", I simply had to go and give their songs a hear.

YouTube I went and the first one I watched was Somebody To You.

And that's where I bring you full circle to today. And this all happened not three days ago. What a whirlwind of a week, let me tell you.

GAH my poor teenage heart hasn't quite the grips of an adult yet, especially when it comes to British boy bands. First we have One Direction. Then 5SOS. Now The Vamps? My oh my.

Anyhow, I enjoyed their stuff. Specifically, this song. It's quite nice. It's cheery, catchy, and altogether fun. Granted, four adorable British boys are singing it (which helps quite a bit), but I actually think the song is fantastic. It's my new car jam (next to She Looks So Perfect and still What Makes You Beautiful) and I quite enjoy Demi Lovato's part in it as well.

The lads are just so cute. Good music and good looks. Man.

"Yeah you!
Yeah you!
I
I used to wanna be
Living like there's only me
But now I spend my time
Thinking 'bout a way to get you off my mind
(yeah you!)
I used to be so tough
Never really gave enough
And then you caught my eye
Giving me the feeling of a lightning strike
(Yeah you!)

Look at me now, I'm falling
I can't even talk, still stuttering
This ground of mine keeps shaking
Oh oh oh, now!

All I wanna be, yeah all I ever wanna be, yeah, yeah
Is somebody to you..."

I'm giving you the link. The power is in your hands now. I encourage you to check them out!

Let's Go Ride a Bike..

Recently, I sat down to watch the incredibly touching film Saving Mr. Banks. Wow. Talk about emotions. It was beautiful. It was childhood, feelings, and emotions all rolled into one and it got me thinking- I'm really growing up.

Especially with my college days coming nearer and nearer, I realize that I'm stepping into the adult world now. I'm finally becoming a young adult, ready for the next chapter in my life.

Yes, that brings me absolute joy about all of the possibilities of the future, but it's also kinda sad to be letting go of my childhood. Yet technically, I'm never "letting go", simply moving forward. Those childhood times will always be with me, they are concrete in who I am as a person. Not only on the inside, but in the world around me. Simply play a couple of chords of Let's Go Fly a Kite and already I'm taken back in time.

So here's to hopping on that bike, and taking a journey, moving onward, cherishing memories of days past, and looking forward to making new ones..
