A Song for Sunday- Budapest.

Once more, Emma has once more impressed me with her musical talents and the discovery of new fantastic artists. It gets even better and better.

I find this particular tune to be stuck in my head in the midst of my day. It's pure joy, I tell you truly. It's one of those songs you can nod your head to and it brightens my day with its positive energy. It's amiable and cheery! I just want to dance around in glee.

Plus, George Erza is adorable. Besides his voice, that is, which is incredible in itself. It has this resonating and wholesome sound to it. It's really deep and it hits all the corners and I just love it. The sound doesn't look like it belongs to him, but once you see him sing, it all fits.

And he's a singer/songwriter which just makes everything better in the music business. Cheers to that.

Secondhand Rose.

Ever heard of the old ditty Secondhand Rose sung by the very best, Barbara Streisand? Way back when I took singing lessons, I had to sing this particular song and looking back, it's the absolute perfect song for what I like to do best- shop used.

Next to Macklemore's Thrift Shop, of course.

But seriously! Whether it's antiques, consignment, thrift shopping, or plain closet shopping from a sister, used clothing is where it's at. And not just clothing either, but everything. There is something just so fun about going through unique and recycled items because one truly never knows what could turn up. It's a mystery! Some days you score, others you don't. It's all part of the hunt.

My closet is probably made up of 90% used clothing and I have absolutely no shame about it. There is nothing more satisfying to me than coming across, say, a vintage cocktail dress. Besides the fact that it's old and one of a kind, I like to think of its history. Who wore it? Where did they wear it? What occasion was it worn for? Oh the stories behind each treasure!

Peace in the Rain.

There is a quiet beauty found in nature when heaven weeps.

Rain.

I love rain. The pitter patter on the windowsill, the clean and fresh smell after storm, and the washing away of all the bad things. At the end of a storm comes a rainbow, yes?

I've always found solace during a downpour.. it's so comforting to me.

Some people feel the rain, others just get wet. It's the perfect example of how one's attitude changes everything. I'm trying to look at things in a positive attitude myself, so when it rains, I let it rain with a smile on my face.

Bouncin' Back.

I was looking through some of my favorite YouTuber's just the other day, when I came across an inspiring video from Jacksgap called "A Fresh Start."

I can say that it honestly pulled me out of the rut I have so currently been burrowing in and into the light of day. And night, because it's constantly light here in the summer.

Anyhoo, what I learned from this video was that in the world of creativity, over thinking and self-doubt is quite common because its your stuff that's going out there. Like Jack said, what will people think? But you know, it doesn't matter what other people think. One of my favorite quotes I heard in a movie sums it up quite well- If we are so consumed with other people's thoughts, then whats the point in having our own?

While one can over think every video (or post, in my case), the best way to get back in the swing of things is simply do what one started doing. For Jack, that was talking to a camera. For me, it was tapping into my inner confidence and setting aside all those thoughts of self-doubt.

 Also, I found thoughts of comparison happening towards other creative artists. Instead of inspiring me, I ended up feeling down because of thoughts that my content wasn't good enough. But..

With these simple thoughts in mind, and from the most helpful advice from my favorite YouTuber, I can now look towards the future with optimism and courage. I can cast aside those thoughts of negativity that serve me no good and focus on the good stuff past and present, and the good stuff to come. So I'll close today with this exciting thought.

A Song for Sunday- One Day I Walk.

I don't know why, but this particular song, sung by Bruce Cockburn, just has a special place in my heart.

Thanks to Songza's playlist Acoustic Bedtime, I was able to discover this song and I knew from the moment that it graced my ears that I would fall in love.

And I did. I don't exactly have deep words of insight for this light song, I just like it.

It brings back feelings of home, and with college coming up here in a couple of weeks, I want to cherish my time here. Also thanks to season 3 of GLEE, which I have been watching all day being in bed sick, things are never going to go back to the way they were once I leave and this song just touches my heart in that sense.

It's really lovely- light, airy, slow, and it's home.

We are back to the summer swing!

Rain is gone, fire is (mostly) out, and the sun shines once more.

Tis the season of flowers and chirping birds.

Seems that I'm not the only one who is enjoying these great outdoors either. We had a little visitation last night..

Isn't that baby the absolute cutest? By far the smallest I've ever seen.

I may have also felt like a bride, walking to my (non-existent) groom!

A Song for Sunday- Romeo&Juliet.

It's been kind of an emotional day for some reason.

I was just sitting there during a lull in the cafe as the rain drizzled down outside, writing dear diary, when I all of a sudden went on a tangent of emotional feels.

I get like that sometimes. Don't we all?

So today's post is on the romantic side of things, since that's how I was feeling. Of course, there's no special someone yet in my life so these romantic feelings are one of longing and yearning, but they are nonetheless romantic thoughts!

What better song than the one depicting the classical story of Romeo and Juliet? It's the tragic story of two young star-crossed lovers and their fight to be together against all odds.

My favorite version of this story is done by the one and only The Killers. The story is told in this heartwarming sort of way, done in layman's terms because Shakespeare can sometimes be a bit tough to understand. It's a bit modern, and told casually, quite clever. It's originally done by Dire Straits, but I like The Killers cover better.
