Festivus for the rest of us...

It's been awhile. Now that school is out, I've been working a lot at my job and unfortunately I cannot dress this extensively. However, I jump at opportunities to dress up- oh yes I do. For instance, this weekend, there's a river festival going on and so even with the wind blowing, I dressed up. Like I said, it's been awhile and as Kurt from "Glee" says "Every moment of your life is an opportunity for fashion."

*pink Aerie shades, flower earrings (consignment), tan Vanity jacket (consignment), my brother's old Michael Kors top (used), my brother's old (AG) jeans (used), a Dooney and Bourke backpack (consignment), Cole Haan men's shoes (consignment), and some fresh toasted and sugar coated almonds from the festival.

Well I had quite the discussion with some of my fellow peers in school. We talked a lot about fashion and style today. I had a tough time getting them to understand the difference between two very different topics: fashion and style, then buying cheap clothes and buying clothes for cheap prices. First off, they didn't believe there was a difference between style and fashion, and then they thought that I only bought expensive clothes. Okay, that's true in a sense. I buy expensive clothes USED, which is ultimately cheaper. I shop consignment stores and peoples closets. Teenagers are so tough to talk to sometimes! (:

*flower earrings, floral Leifsdottir top (consignment) (they all said it looked like curtains at an old ladies house), teal Frenchi shorts, and black sparkly TOMS.

Desert Going..

The days of school are almost over! So excited. So my parents just came back from a brief vacation and while they were somewhere warmer than here, they went shopping with a couple of friends. A couple of Italian friends. And the lady just so happened to find this romper for me. Since I had finals today, I decided to wear it and the romper is sooooo comfortable! Plus, picked by an Italian fashion guru... even better!

Feeling Fresh..

As the week passed (without snow, yet we had some unexpected hail), the sun came out and my inspiration for spring colors sprung forth. I believe spring is all about new beginnings, and even though where I live, it is a bit yucky outside, it doesn't mean one's closet has to be!

*Old Navy scarf (consignment), green PINK top, teal Frenchi shorts, two vintage bracelets (consignment), and blue Nanette Lepore by Keds flats (consignment).

Shout out to my bro!

So I was pilfering through my mom's garage sale pile and happened upon my brother's "get ride of pile." And what did I find? JEANS!! I had been eyeing these jeans for over a year now, when I first borrowed them for a school project and here they were! Gosh, I was so excited. Has anyone tried wearing guys jeans? They are so comfortable. Seriously. Who needs to buy the "boyfriend slouchy jean" when one can just borrow from their bro? Aw man. This seriously made my day. Thanks man!

*vintage rhinestone earrings (consignment), pink Bobeau top (consignment), "slouchy" men's AG jeans (garage sale), and pink ECCO flats.

Hmmm, I see to be in the pink mood a lot. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. It's better than black black black for me. It's been kind of windy all week and the weather forecast calls for snow on Sunday (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!), so I'm squeezing in all my springy outfits before the snow falls. IF it falls. Which I hope it doesn't.

*white ARIES 50 top (consignment), brown leggings, and pink Keds (Tj Maxx)

Hello hello...

Well I hope everyone had a great weekend. I sure did! I was actually out late last night coming home from a weekend trip and threw this together this morning. Plus, my hair! And no, I did not use a crimper. I used the magic of braids. (:

*jeweled necklace (consignment), pink J. Crew cardigan (consignment), black CAbi jeggings, and khaki Wet Seal boots.

Paris in the Springtime...

Today I was actually inspired by my old Barbie calender and there was a sketch in there that I loved. Then again, I love every Barbie sketch. Barbie is kind of my idol. Anyway, cheers go to my favorite gal Barbie!

By the way, my title goes to my dad... for he suggested it. Haha. I was officially notified on Facebook by Long Tall Sally (one of my favorite tall brands) that it is officially Stand Tall Week. Yay for me! So if you know someone tall, give them a hug. (:

Bright Side..

Oh the wonders of spring. The happiness of looking outside and seeing water drip from the roof (and it not being rain), and seeing grass peek up under the snow... glorious. Plus, it's the time of year to start bringing out the bright colors (not that you can't wear them in winter!).

*vintage multi-strand necklace, yellow cashmere J.Crew top (consignment), blue J.Crew high-waisted skirt (consignment), and white AE flats.

Hitting it Green..

So today I went out of the box. Or so my friends would tease me like. I'm known at school for never wearing the same outfit twice in one year, but the funny thing is, is that I do. The trick? Using key staples and mixing them up. For instance, this exact blazer was worn just a couple days ago, and nobody even noticed. And trust me, they would notice if I wore the same exact outfit. (: Hope you are all enjoying spring as much as I am!

*vintage owl necklace, kelly green Ambition blazer, a true lumber jacking button up (my aunt actually used to be a lumberjacker), Vigoss skinny jeans (consignment), and kelly green Converse (senior center garage sale find)

Bye Bye Birdie.

Today I was inspired by one of my favorite musicals "Bye Bye Birdie." The style in that movie just touched me a lot, so I dressed a bit vintage today, yet added modern touches. If none of you have seen it, I highly recommend it! "Just put on a happy face..."

*Banana Republic ball necklace (heavy and was on sale for only $12!), vintage floral dress (consignment), kelly green Ambition blazer, black Miss Bisou heels (consignment)

60's Inspired...

Today, first day back at school, I wanted to dress up and have my tan legs show. I love vacations in sunny weather. (: So I put a vintage vibe to my return with this dress, yet I added some modern touches (the boots). It was a good day back.

*vintage red rhinestone earrings, sparkly red bow belt, polka dotted Forever 21 dress, and brown/tan COACH wedges.

Too Long..

Wow, so sorry! It has been quite awhile since I've posted and I apologize profusely. I just got back from vacation to somewhere sunny and hot (polar opposite of here), and Internet access was hard to come by. :/ Anyhow, I apologize for neglecting my blog. I miss it! Although I didn't take any pictures there (we were moving pretty fast every day), I just wanted to say that getting out of the area into a bigger city was an inspiration to me. Everyday, I saw countless of stylish people and I loved observing people and what they wore. It was a light bulb to me! I hope to continue posting as soon as school starts up again... a couple of days. Thanks for being patient!

                                                           My first day of arrival!

Wintry Week...

Man, it's been so long! This week has been exceedingly... white. On Monday, we had a two hour delay at school due to the amount of snow we received (that rarely happens!), and it continues to snow as we speak. Today I dressed coincidentally matching the weather. And no, it wasn't planned. (; Enjoy the snow!

*vintage flower necklace (antique store find), blue BCBG tank (consignment), cream Ann Taylor cardigan (consignment), blue Mavi jeans, and cream Wet Seal booties.

Believe it or not, this whole outfit began around a swimming suit. And not just any, but the very one I'm wearing in these pictures. My mom found this for me on Ebay and it's a brown and white Cole of California Original vintage suit. So I paired it up with some real clothes and wore it all day. Not one person could tell that I was wearing an actual swimming suit. It made for quite the outfit...for I was also another five inches taller!

*vintage white drop earrings (consignment), a Cole swimming suit (Ebay), a brown Forever 21 cardigan (consignment), a black Worthington skirt (consignment),  brown BCBG wedges (consignment), and various bracelets.
