Looking on the (Literal) Bright Side..

When I woke up this morning, I was not expecting to see what I saw.

I'm the type of girl who definitely reads ahead on the weather forecast in order to better determine her outfit choice because hello there are a zillion factors that go into an outfit choice and weather plays a major factor!

Anyhow, it read that today would be in the seventies, but when I looked outside this morning, thick fog consumed all.

Really?

Well, one thing you should know about San Francisco weather is that it can turn on you in the blink of an eye. It goes to show how the start of the morning isn't the determinant in your entire day. Sure, mood is a huge factor, but as the hours slipped by, the sun crept out and it turned out to be a beautifully spectacular day.

We've been having some major warm spells here the last couple of weeks and while I can't complain, I can't help but think of the factor causing it, and that would unfortunately have to be climate change.

Now I didn't watch the Oscars, but we talked about them in our Brand Management Strategies class and apparently Leonardo DiCaprio made a speech about climate change, and the thing that we really need to stress to the world isn't how to fix it, but simply to get people to realize that it's actually happening.

I think that for awhile, it's been pushed to the back because "it can't actually be happening", but it totally is. And this freak weather here in the city is by no accident. It's all part of this global phenomenon and the realization of our earth being threatened by something not foreign, but something so real as you and me, has got to come to light.

So how do we educate? How do we take measures to protect this earth? I mean, I'm no expert, but it's all about the little things, and the little changes we make. We don't have to dontate five zillion dollars to some organization (also not trusting as to where that money actually goes), all we have to do is educate others and take mini measures ourselves and hopefully, that will spread to others.

I know that my first cue is to buy a Tesla. Anyone with me?

Looking on the bright side, isn't this day stunning?

On my Ted Baker/vintage bow game...

Time to CeleBRIT.

I woke up after a rough night of (attempted) sleep and just knew that it was going to be a good day.

Sure enough, when I checked my email this morning, I got the surprise of a lifetime.

Some weeks ago, my friend Whitney and I applied to the study abroad program at University of the Arts London, London College of Fashion. We had been looking to apply for some time now because we have this insatiable craving to spend time outside of the United States, especially in a city as bustling and fashion forward as London.

Well. This morning, I got my letter of acceptance.

I was a little excited, to say the least. I may have danced a jig (or two, or three) in my room in celebration and my heart was beating proudly.

I guess there was never really a doubt that I wouldn't get in. As you may have remembered, I'm a firm believer in the power of positive thinking and I just wouldn't let my mind wander to what if. Negative thoughts were not welcome and I've been reinstating this phrase of "I am going to London" instead of "If I go to London."

It's pretty big news, and it's rather adventurous of me. Small town girl attending school in San Francisco now making plans to jet off to another country. Who knew?

As my mom so wisely told me: You rarely regret the things you do, but you often regret the things you don't do.

In this case, I'm a doer.

What I wore: black Tom Ford sunglasses (consignment), white earrings, blue Joie "je suis cheeky" sweater (Nordstrom Rack), floral/leaf Ted Baker skirt (I love my job!), and black Tory Burch pumps (Nordstrom Rack).

In a Mood.

It's been awhile and I miss you.

There's something comforting about writing, about the words flowing from the inside. And the sound of a keyboard is music to my ears (especially since I'm a fast typer- thank you to Type to Learn in the fourth grade!).

How do you do?

To catch you up to speed on all my doings, I've been living in a rather blissful and exciting February. The weather has been exceptionally warm (I'm talking seventy degrees plus), and there have been a lot of new things on my plate. Of course though, today's weather turned foul, and my mood swiftly followed suit. The wind picked up, the thunderclouds rolled in, and I was forced to take my accompanying (school, work, life) stress and face it head on.

I think the main perpetrator of my unwelcome unhappiness is my head.

I'm an over thinker. I'm sometimes so consumed in my thoughts, so lost in my head, so nit-picky on every little aspect of my life, that I turn myself into this stressful machine that can't find peace and happiness. I see things that aren't there, imagine things that aren't real, and I bind myself into this rather unfortunate mind maze that does nothing to improve the situation. Over thinking corrupts the mind, destroys happiness, and most importantly, it creates negative problems that never even existed in the first place

Thoughts can be fantastic, don't get me wrong. But when it turns to the point of making you unhappy and even more confused, it's time to say no. So today, I settled into my room with a cup of joe and the pounding rain outside, and I was finally able to sort out my thoughts, acknowledge them as they floated by, and move on.

Don't be this guy:

Instead, be happy.

Actually can't see very well because of the winds and all the accompanying dust particles from below construction..

And if this height difference doesn't make you laugh..

What I wore: vintage gold bauble earrings, vintage navy dress with gold buttons (antique store), tan Ted Baker belt (I love Ted!), nude Steve Madden pumps (consignment), and khaki Burberry coat (consignment).

Super Sunday.

As you all might be aware, today was Superbowl Sunday.

Yay.

I mean, yes, it's exciting, and yes, downtown San Francisco has been an absolute zoo because the Santa Clara Superbowl 50 Levi's Stadium is right around the corner, but in all honesty, I wasn't altogether particularly excited about watching it.

I guess my friends were in the same boat because as I was anticipating another Sunday in, I was invited for a picnic over at the lovely Delores Park down in the Mission. Not only did I eagerly agree, but when I woke this morning, it was to clear blue skies and the promise of seventy degree weather. In February?! I'll take that any day!

So my super Sunday did not, in fact, include any football. It did, however, include company with friends, time spent outdoors, and the lovely accompaniment of wine and snacks.

First, can we talk about how beautiful this house is?

Delores Park, everyone..

Hostess of the hour, the delightful Deandra!

We got Moscato, burritos, chips 'n salsa, and champagne gummy bears?

And to top it off- hooch for the coffee!

What a day indeed!

Booking It.

Ok, February must be the month for me.

It's just the third day of the month and yet I have started the month strong and glowing.

No seriously, people have commented that I've been "glowing."

Anyhow, today was an exceptionally fine and ordinary day. My walk to and from school involved naturally contagious smiles and giggles at how happy and full of life I was. I was literally that girl that's smiling for no reason and is simply happy to be alive.

I'm also so into the now. I can't explain it, but I've been so present and comfortable with myself, completely absorbed in what's currently happening and incredibly sure of myself. I can't figure it out, but whatever it is, I need to keep this up everyday!

Speaking of the now, we were in class today (Contemporary Business Strategies) and we had a project on sustainability. I researched and studied Levi's and after hearing all of the presentations and talking about it, I found that I'm a contributor to the whole "saving the planet" reality, without even realizing it! Looking down at my silk Heremes top (given to me by my mom who got it from a consignment store), I realized that buying second hand clothing is recycling, reusing, and it's repurposing something that would otherwise live out its days in a landfill (although Lord never this Hermes top).

There's a really big movement towards companies practicing eco-sustainability. And it's not just an edge that gets you ahead in the market, I think it's becoming a concept that all companies follow. If we don't take care of our planet, if we don't recycle, cut down on water/energy usage, our planet will no longer be what it is.

It's cool to know that I'm practicing these concepts. Who knew that saving the planet and looking stylish could go hand in hand?

On the ironic hand, I was in the library today for my OOTD photoshoot and this fellow student comes up and mistakenly takes me as being the librarian. Giggling, I told him where to set the stack and then told him to book it.

Get it? Book it.

Also found my autobiography. Or Elon Musk's. Same thing.

Just check out this Hermes book!

What I wore: gold fortune cookie earrings (consignment), 100% silk Hermes top (my mom's), black Worthington high-waisted skirt (consignment), and black Miss Bisou pumps (consignment).

She Leaves a Little Sparkle..

It's hard not to get inspired when you wake up in a good mood.

In the same breath, it's even harder not to get inspired when your walk consists of walking past window displays such as these...

And then walking into this building for school..

Although it's only February (wait. already?!), I'm already feeling excited for spring/summer. Thanks, retail, for that one! But I also know that I need to enjoy each day as it comes, and so with that in mind, I brought my own wintry version of my summer feels out today.

And my friend Angelina, unbeknownst to me, was feeling the same way, for we both matched in pink and green hues. I guess the thing to look forward to this month is Valentines day and all the pink femininity and love surrounding...

Sounds like a plan to me!

Kate Spade everything for Angelina!

For me: it's all about the details..

And she leaves a little sparkle, wherever she goes..

How darling?

What I wore: black suede Tory Burch low pumps (Nordstrom Rack), black Kate Spade tights with colorful rhinestones (Christmas gift), green Halogen skirt, pink Gap sweater (consignment), black Banana Republic bobble necklace (sale), and black Tom Ford sunglasses (consignment).
