Shut the Front Dior.

The first day of my last quarter here at FIDM has finally arrived.

Wait. What. Shut the front Dior!

It seems like only yesterday that I was timidly walking those Schiaparelli pink floors at the OC campus, not knowing a soul, my heart a flutter as I started my college education at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. And now, I'm starting my six class finish, getting ready to graduate in just a few short months.

It's rather unbelievable, if I do say so myself. Time here has flown and it's incredible that I'll be leaving the safety of my campus to go out into the real world, ready to apply my knowledge and all that I have learned.

But I'm excited! Scared a wee bit, but nonetheless excited. Returning from my road trip (which I still have to share with you!), I've been thrust into the hectic life of work and school and I just know that time is going to fly here during the remainder of my stay in the city. It's a lot to take in.

But, as I took a break from it all watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off, I was reminded of something important:

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you could miss it."

First class of my last quarter happens to be Marketing Communications and this is the book we received. I got pretty thrilled..

Ooh- la- la Oscar.

So there's something big going on here in San Francisco.

Andre Leon Talley, fashion genius and front-row guest at fashion shows everywhere, has curated one of the finest museum retrospectives on the one and only: Oscar de la Renta.

And it happens to be featured at the De Young Museum here in SF.

Seeing as how Oscar is one of my favorite designers, I thought it only prudent to attend in his honor and marvel (and internally drool) at all of the exquisitely feminine and truly remarkable designs. It's spectacularly laid out, complete with looks from every inspiration in the world ( from Russia, to Europe, to New York), as well as complete audio and visual descriptions along the way.

If you live in the city, I highly recommend you attend. If you don't live in the city, I still highly recommend you attend. It goes on until May 30th..

Oscar de la Renta- The Retrospective 

It was the absolute craziest thing. When I met my friend Angelina there, we were stopped by interns working at the De Young museum who were doing a survey on stylish patrons. As a thank you for participating, Angelina and I were given two VIP tickets (paid for and purchased by them), and we got to skip the entire line and hop right on in. Apparently it pays sometimes to dress up..

I apologize in advance for the plethora of photographs, but I simply couldn't resist!

Get this: this stormy dress is made out of 100 yards of tulle. Imagine!

This red carpet area was designated to the stars in Oscar. We had gowns here worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Chastain, Taylor Swift...
