Vacation Destination- Day 7

It seems to be the end of my trip. Why must they always end? But it didn't end without a bang. It seems that there was a pattern with all of my meals and nom noms in between.. A pattern of sweetness. Yes. It's like He knew it was the end, and decided to bless my family with sweets on top to signify the sweet finish of our chocolate cake vacation. If that's how every vacation ends... Hopefully it saves the bittersweet tears from falling!

First, I begin the morning with a post workout hot chocolate.

Next comes lunch and a divine Monte Cristo Sammy.

And please let us not forget the dessert..German white chocolate mousse.

Afternoon pick me up includes a homemade chokecherry latte that was to die for.

My plane ensemble.

What I wore: navy vintage hat (used that my cousin insisted I buy.. He turned out to have good taste because not only do I love it, but strangers as well), a neon LUSH top, a navy J CREW cardigan (used), a turquoise vintage necklace (used), a pleated ashen BOBEAU maxi skirt (used), and sparkly TOMS.

*sorry again about the awkward bathroom photos.

And the best finish of the night, a ding dong cake. Mmmmm good.

Vacation Destination- Day 6

Another beautiful day in the Black Hills! Ok, want to know a little fun fact? I learned how to spell the word "beautiful" whilst watching "Bruce Almighty. " When he goes "it is a b-e-a-utiful day. " hehe. Anyhow, since it was that kind of day, we spent it at one of the many lakes surrounding us. Splendid sunshine cascading across the waters and onto our tanned skin, craw dads creeping across our toesies, children splashing around us, and pure enjoyment of the great outdoors.

Vacation Destination- Day 5

How does time fly so quickly when one is on vacation? I guess the saying "Time flies when you're having fun. " is as true as can be. I think we can all agree on that. One thing that I truly love about the Black Hills besides the history and beauty is the thunderstorms. One minute it can be sunny and clear and in a blink, things have turned around. That was today. Thunderstorms are one of my secret adorations and because I don't have them where I live, it truly is a treat for me to watch and be a part of. No, there will not be photos of some wicked lightning or white out sheets in the sky, just pics of me being happy. And some of me in a pool before the drastic yet awesome change in weather. Life is good.

Vacation Destination- Day 4

Today we drove down to the old town of Lead. Totally unexpected, but due to some rain preventing us from doing our activities, we enjoyed the day nonetheless.

One of my favorite parts of this part of SD  , or most parts I suppose, is the history. I wanted to spend my day walking round the old neighborhoods and just dwell in the beauty of historic homes such as this one.

Posing for a photo at the top of Terry Peak.. Beautiful.

Nothing like getting dolled up for a play performance!

Happy Fourth!

Oh the only day this year in which I can proudly say MERCA. Is that a fad, or?? Where did it even come from? That's what I want to know. Well anyways, what more fitting town to celebrate the Fourth than in humble town Custer. We had old fashioned ladies and gents walking about, red, white, and blue colors every corner one looked, and your good ole GOD BLESS MERCA. It's everywhere. And it seems that no matter how many sunny days in a row I have leading up to the forth, it rains on the actual holiday. Just my luck, yea? But it's no bother, really. So our special celebration today included a lovely train ride, pie, and then some rocking fireworks at the end that truly summed up the day. And I am proud to be an American!

If Gene Kelly can rock the rain..

Ginger beer. IT IS NON ALCOHOLIC.

Just your run of the mill MERCA colors.

What I wore: gold firecracker earrings, COSETTE top (used), vintage LEVI shorts (used) and vintage COACH purse (used).

My brother and I officially got photo bombed by one of the train workers. Dude, he knew Star Wars quotes. Dreamy...

And then the psych fireworks that stopped (presumably for an intermission), then the finale that rocked.

Good ole American pie.

Vacation Destination- Day 2

Today was a full on shopping spree in the city. I'm talking vintage shops, antique stores, Italian dining for lunch, and even some TJMaxx. Many shopping bags later, I have a full fledged smile atop my face. It was a stupendous day.

What I wore: BOBEAU birdy top, forest green MAUVE skirt (used), royal blue belt (used), grey flats, and vintage COACH purse (used).

Shopping in the city..

Vacation Destination- Day 1

And so here we are on our yearly trip to the lovely Black Hills. Well, we missed last year and so this was an extra special occasion for the family. Travel went fairly well besides the fact that it was a red eye. Oh, and have the seats gotten more cramped since my last air flight?! I swear, they have. I know I never got to experience that classy era in which plane travel was chic and comfortable, but why do we have to go opposite on the comfort scale? I don't get it. Anyhow, besides spending most of my day catching up on the lost sleep, we spent the day waltzing downtown and checking out all our latest digs and shops. It's good to be back.

My sister and I enjoying a promenade.

Selfie in a cute antique store.

"When you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go... DOWNTOWN!"

First antique store of the trip... With many more to come!

Nothing like finding a good ole bike.

A book on Tiffany's?! Always a must.

A mysterious old house.

I'm sorry about the black icky thing surrounding my photos. I literally just got an Instagram just so I could use the photo editing capabilities and cannot figure out how to save the edited photos without posting them. I know it's pretty hipster of me, but... Gotta do what I gotta do!
