Los Angeles Jewelry-Antiques-Design Show.

A couple of days ago, on my rare scrolls through my Instagram, I came across a recent post from the OC FIDM page advertising some tickets for an art show in LA. Just coming back from Alaska, I was more than ready to bounce back in the scene and try out something exciting!

So last night, I drove myself and a couple of friends through the traffic filled freeways to Los Angeles.

The night was a blast. Truly. We had these very nice tickets to a preview party to the Los Angeles Art-Design-Antiques show, and then a transferable ticket to check out the LA Art Show just next store!

Where to begin? Well, as where most people should begin.. the food table! We knew there was a reason for coming all the way out here. ;) We started with delightful mini cupcakes and then went on to some pastas, eyeing the adult drinks and chatting amongst ourselves.

It was a fairly swank event too. Lots of creative Los Angles types, expensive bags, and a mix up of LA's artsiest. We ducked in and out of various booths, enjoying the selection of art, as well as the many good looking men walking past.

I had a very nice time. We took photos on the red carpet, peeked into the VIP table ( Lauren and Haley hoping to catch a glimpse of a possible Harry Styles) observed the diverse displays of incredible art, and enjoyed having such a fancy night out in the city!

Media alert! Four swell students from FIDM attending this evening's art show...

First art of the evening!

Bags galore.

Lauren's having a hard time picking a bag, as you can see..

And of course we had a blast checking into the FIDM Museum booth! Incredible to see garments from hundreds of years past in such exquisite condition..

Carolina, Lauren, and myself having way too much fun in the silver booth!

Both Lauren and Carolina found humour in the artist "Baes."

This was one of my favorite photography exhibits.

Get this: this artist paints downtown on the first Thursdays of every month and charges just 50 smacks for a self portrait. Check out them apples.

How did they get ahold of my car??

"Lollipop lollipop, lollipop.."

"Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun.."

If you look closer..

I thought my dad would get a kick out of this!

A quick bathroom selfie! Sorry for the poor background..

What I wore: vintage rhinestone earrings (used), black and white scarf with Chanel (N-Rack), white silk CAbi blouse (used), black vintage CLASSIQUES ENTIER cigarette pants (from my mother), and red vintage FERRAGAMO shoes (used).

First Day Back @ FIDM.

Well here we are again! Back to school before we know it.

So I returned here just yesterday after a most tearful and heart wrenching goodbye, but the awesome thing about FIDM is that my excitement for starting new classes at such an fun school helps with the homesickness.

Classes so far have been most excellent. I think I should like to share with you the joy I have for some of these guys.

My first class of the day was Critical Thinking and it was so so neat. We began by closing our eyes and saying hello to the day, What a unique way to begin the winter quarter at FIDM! I then sat there in awe as the teacher went on to say the most inspiring of sayings. I am most excited to see where this class will take me this quarter!

My second class was Concepts in Trend Forecasting and that was another great one. The teacher is lovely and I'm excited to learn about trend forecasting, something I'm usually not watching attentively. You know me, always bringing back the past! And the teacher once interviewed Donatella Versace! Crazy pants.

The final class of the day was just your traditional college mathematics, but even that teacher was chill. He used the word gnarly so I'm quite a fan already.

It's going to be a fantastic quarter, I can tell already. I got to reunite with my friends and we're so in love with all of our classes and teachers.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

My wonderful friends Whitney and Jordan..

First day of school outfit!

Me in a Mini.

Now it is a rare site indeed to find me in a miniskirt. Traditionally, mini skirts on any normal legged person would include a skirt that fits above the knee, courtesy of the 1960'.  I, however, have the legs of a Daddy Long Legged Spider, which means that any normal length skirt is a mini skirt and any normal mini skirt is like underwear on me.

Now it's temps rising into the mid thirties, I decided to bare the cold and show some skin!

Never be afraid to show some skin! As long as you've got it, and as long as its tasteful, girl, you embrace that winter warmth and put on a mini!

What I wore: vintage rhinestone necklace (used), vintage salmon pink cutout top (used), striped J CREW mini skirt (sale), and blue SACHELLE boots (used).

Winter Pop of Color.

So although we have just a fine powdered sugar sprinkling of snow upon the ground, the winter weather is in full spring upon us. This past week has been full of crispy clear mornings, full of crusty frosted trees and cold air smoke coming from our exhaled breaths.

It's really beautiful. A little cold, maybe, for my taste, but beautiful. And we just had a hot tub installed too, so it's not like I can't stand the cold.

Anyhow, in the field of white trees and bundled up Alaskans, there was a minor hole in the colorful area. So I channeled some inner Kate Spade and went for some pops of color in my ensemble today. It's all about bringing in your own dosage of sunshine, warming up even the most chilly of days.

I found this lovely photograph in the consignment store today as we were entering a couple of racks from the week before. I find it to be incredibly elegant, and the lady in the picture and myself both share a penchant for rhinestone chokers! And who knows, for all we know, her dress could have been yellow!

Can you guess where my pop of color is hiding?

What I wore: vintage iridescent rhinestone choker (used), black and white diamond patterned MAUVE dress (used), gold soarkly BANANA REPUBLIC belt (sale), sand colored NORDSTROM cashmere fingerless gloves (used), gold sparkly KATE SPADE fishnet tights (sale), and brown MIA ankle boots (used).

New Year.

It's 2015!

Bring out the bubbly, party late with friends, reminisce about old times and make goals for the new year!

Or, if you're like me, come up with a new year's resolution that consists of a diet strictly of sushi and champagne. See?

Those are just a few of my favourite things.

But in all honesty, I do have a couple of goals that have been resurfacing in my mind this past year. A couple include cutting down on social medias (if you want to know what sparked this, have a listen to Passenger's Scare Away the Dark ), being more communicative and bold in speaking, and trying harder to be kind and more open-minded with my family. What are some of yours?

It's already been a busy first couple of days here in the new year- I've just helped cut down a tree (can you imagine me outside in a vintage pleated skirt and UGG boots helping pull down a tree), I've caught up with some of my closest friends, coped with the lack of snowfall and lawnfull's of visible grass, and I recently applied to America's Next Top Model. That has been quite an exciting project for me that I just sent off today (after some rather heart-stopping shipping problems). So already the new year is looking to be rather fun!

So grab a glass of the bubbly and raise a toast to all of the exciting prospects to come in 2015.

A glassful of bubbles... now that's something to dance about!

On a champagne diet... but sparkling cider works too for all you underagers (including myself).
