One Never Knows What One Might Find..

It was an innocent enough day to start. My mum and I had an opening for a day trip to Anchorage and so we donned our attire and away we went.

'Twas a lovely day too. The sun shone, the wind was out, spring was in the air, and we had bunches of consignment stores to visit. Just another typical April day, yes? Well you know how consignment stores are- like Rick on Pawn Stars says "You never know what is gonna walk through those doors." In my situation, it was "You never know what treasure you're going to stumble upon." And today, I stumbled upon a big one.

I finally got to see, with my very own eyes, a pair of hand jeweled Swarovski encrusted classic Christian Louboutin pumps. I think I know the term "Cinderella Slippers" because I was just stunned into silence and awe.

These were by far the most beautiful pair of shoes I have ever seen. Of course, I've seen loads of photos in magazines and on celebrities and I've only just dreamed of these rare creations, but to actually hold them in one's hand after so long.. I know it sounds silly, but I was just in heaven! They were so delicate, so detailed, so shiny and pretty, and unfortunately in a size eight.

THANK GOODNESS. If they were my size, and they fit like a glove, I would simply have to have them and I'm only eighteen and they are still $2400 so you can only imagine the slight dilemma I was in.

Truly though, I would've bought them just because. I can't even. Words cannot describe how stunning these feminine shoes were. And of course someday I would love to own my very own pair (that is, if they come in a whopping size 11), but for now, admiration will have to do. And that's fine! I think being able to hold them in my hand is good enough.

What the grand part about all of this is, they were in a consignment store. I just cannot imagine how anyone would ever want to part with these treasures, but good for me being able to see and hold them, yes? Like I said, that's the gift of consignment and used shopping- you seriously never know what you're going to come across.

What I Wore: pink AERIE sunnies, assortment of necklaces (the spike once more!), pink GAP tank (sale), AE army green cargo jacket (used), vintage Molly Ringwald inspired floral skirt (used), and brown BCBG ankle boots (used).

A Song for Sunday Pt. 3- Bohemian Rhapsody.

Ok, this was a most difficult decision to make. Which Queen song to share as one of my favorites because there are truly so many. Fat Bottomed Girls and Somebody to Love came closely, but honest to goodness there are so many classics.

I chose Queen today because I actually attended the We Will Rock You show in London and was blown away. I've always had a soft spot for Queen- their timeless and classic sound will forever be present in the history of music and I am simply drawn to the harmonies and musicals that go to each of their songs. Plus, they are just so unique.

Bohemian Rhapsody was and will always be an instant classic, and when we saw this show, there were always clips of the masterpiece but they didn't actually sing it until the very very end. There are so many elements to this particular song. It goes from one planet to the next with operatic harmonies, then some classic rock, then up and down and turn it around! Ah just mint right there.

It is also in my singing range, or so I would like to think, and I love to belt it at the top of my lungs whenever I hear those first dimensional voices singing "Is this just real life, or is this just fantasy?"

There you have it! London inspired me in many ways, music most certainly being one of them. I just love old music too and I think we should remember it as history, for Queen was certainly ahead of their time with their unparalleled style back in the '70's.

I'm just a poor boy
Nobody loves me

He's just a poor boy
From a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity..

And also, it gets completely random sometimes and I am an advocate of all things random and weird. As Sutter Keely says in Spectacular Now, embrace the weird!

A Song for Sunday Pt. 2- There is a Light that Never Goes Out.

Complete change of direction here, we're going back to the late eighties, early nineties, to the very British rock band, The Smiths.

I first heard of The Smiths in one of my favorite movies Perks of Being a Wallflower and was quite taken with their indie and rock sounds, especially in Asleep. I chose this particular song (There is a Light..) today though because I actually heard the lyrics on my way driving home the other day and was struck with how raw and sad they were.

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure- the privilege is mine..

Makes you want to cry a little, yeah? The sincerity and tragedy of it. I was just sitting there one minute and then my motions stopped and I had to listen. I had never even noticed before and here I was, bawling in the car and the sadness of it all. So there you have it, a little song that makes your heart just kinda.. feel.

A Song for Sunday Pt. 1- She Looks So Perfect.

So I have decided to do not just one song for today, but three. THREE, I tell you. Since I was out of the country and not at all concerned with social medias and getting online, I have missed a couple of opportunities to share music with you and there is so much music to share! Therefore, here I am, choosing three totally different songs to share.

The first one of today is a complete fan girl song. I know, I know. Now I do not consider myself a "fan girl", per say, but it is definitely one of those songs that turns you into one! Would you believe it if I told you that my friend Emma once more hooked me onto this particular group? Cause that is basically the truth. Here, this sums up our relationship pretty well:

What is this group I keep mentioning, but not actually mentioning? They go by the name of 5 Seconds of Summer. It is an Australian pop punk band consisting of four attractive males. It's like the One Direction Infection all over again and it's only a matter of time before they hit Alaska (remember, we are a couple years behind on all things popular in the rest of the world).

I chose "She Looks So Perfect" because honestly, it's a really happy song and it makes me jump around. First hearing the song was in the actual music video and that is bloody hilarious. Everyone in all shapes and sizes end up dancing along in their skivvies by the end of the song and the song is just the perfect summer song, which is certainly coming right up! It's a head boppin', bootay shaking, joyful song that just makes you wanna get right down to your undies!

You look so perfect standing there
In my American Apparel underwear
And I know now, that I'm so down

Your lipstick stain is a work of art
I got your name tattooed in an arrow heart
And I know now, that I'm so down..

Gingham Style.

'Eyyy sexy lady! Oh such good times whenever I think of that crazy song. Take it back junior year, shy small town Alaskan girl at this gigantic football game and all of a sudden, the young high schoolers all dance in unison to this funky song. I remember laughing and being so confused at this strange lower 48 behavior!

Anyhow, little flashback memory there. I'm still in the throes of an intense homework filled week, plus finally recovering from travel (since I do it SO often ;)), but any distraction, like dressing up, is welcome.

Today, it was all about mixing together a little Chanel inspired jacket, some old fashioned gingham, and maybe even some spikes. Whoompa gangham style.

What I wore: metallic spiky necklace (N-Rack), red and white gingham men's top (used from Paris), a black and white CAbi cardigan (used), black CAbi tuxedo skinny jeans (used), and black RALPH LAUREN flats (used).

Throwback Thursday- Coffee in Chelsea.

Ah so much to share and so little time! Well, I actually have loads of time, but I don't want to bore you with a play by play of my trip so I'll just share some of my favorite bits.

But first, there was coffee.

That's basically what I'm going to share with you today because I find it to be of utmost importance. I live and I breathe coffee and so therefore, it will be shared as my first post from London. I could also title this "Lattes in London" or "Drinking our way Through London", but for now, I'll stick with Chelsea.

So my friend Caroline and I were just coming off an intense 24 hours of traveling across seas and many lands and after dropping our bags off quick, we simply went on out. Who has time for napping when there's city to be seen and indulgences to be met?

Like I said, coffee first. We found this little cafe on the corner of the road in Chelsea, ordered a couple of these new found "flat whites" (an apparent European drink), then sat out on the sidewalk.

The first sip was magic. That's all I can really say. Our bodies were tired, our hair matted, our eyes barely staying open, but I remember that sip like it was a fire lit beneath my buns! It was incredible. The appearance with the lovely leaf and the dark crema.. it was the best and first coffee of my time in London.

That is not to say that London didn't have good coffee, because they most definitely did! In fact, I was quite surprised by the appreciation that Brits had for java and the careful preparation that went behind it.

You could say that I was welcomed to London with open arms and delicious cups of coffee.

Over the Moon to be Home.

Home at long last!

My goodness it has been a bit, has it not? I myself just returned from a most glourious vacation in the U.K. London, England, to be more precise. I just don't see how one can make time to post when on vacation and so here I am!

I came home late last night from a grueling 24 hours of traveling and so of course my sleep system is completely bonkers (England is nine hours ahead), I have the unruly task of unpacking (how did I manage to buy so much stuff?), and then I can't believe it, but graduation is coming up next month and so schoolwork to boot! Ah remember the days where I was complaining of boredom? It seems that time has passed and I now have plenty to keep busy!

It's going to take me a bit of time to sort things out, and I cannot wait to tell you about my adventures abroad and so you can bet your buns that I will be sharing my highlights come every Thursday on Throwback Thursday. Yes yes. (That is, if  I can tear myself away from the apparent spring-time sunshine currently happening outside).

All in all, I really enjoyed myself and was truly inspired (traveling does that), but I am glad to be home at long last. In fact, I may have hugged my house. Hey, what can I say? Home is where the heart is.

What I wore: my dad's chambray shirt (used, obviously!), a gray ENGLISH TEE SHOP t-shirt (yes, purchased in England!), coral JESSICA SIMPSON skinny jeans (sale), and pink and mint cheetah trainers (N-Rack).
