Final Performance in Floral.

So this weekend has been pretty epic for SUDS, way better than we could ever have anticipated. We sold out and sold extra, had the most energetic crowds, and of course we performers had a blast. It's gonna be hard to perform this final show knowing its the last one, but let me just you that this is not one we will easily forget. Golly, I have lots I want to post this evening and so ill just go ahead and do so. Since my title is having to do with floral, ill tell you where my inspiration came from. My very sweet dad, I have noticed, has a special spot for gardening. Besides having a garden, he made us a greenhouse, then put in grass and lovely landscaping in the front. It's truly adorable. So this is thanks to my dad! Below will also be some of my favorite snapshots from the end of the show, where we had a lil photo shoot. And as Cindy ends, "I feel like I'm on top of the world!"

Where my inspiration for today's ensemble came from..

What I wore: pale pink AERIE sunnies, a vintage silk floral made in Italy UNGARO vintage dress (used), a vintage teal clutch (used), and camel CHINESE LAUNDRY heels.

SUDS! The rocking 60's musical soap opera.

MOD.

So this is the last weekend of our groovy performance of SUDS and so my outfits are definitely inspired from my sixties era beehive. I swear, sometimes I think I should have been born in a different era. I'm totally digging this whole going-back-in-time performance. I simply love seeing the older folks laughing at all these jokes from that time. It's priceless to make someone's day like that, you know? Anyhow, I found some of these outfit inspirations in the giant box of magazine cut outs that I have saved over the years ( I am that old fashioned. My sister makes fun of me but I like hard copies. Is that so wrong?), and this is what I came up with. So do the locomotion with me!

What I wore: vintage necklaces (used), a two tone TROUVÉ top (used), a kelly green AMBITION blazer, a striped BANANA REPUBLIC skirt (used), orange MARCO SANTI pumps.

Oh, and the mention of the bullet bra in the photo above? I actually get to wear one during the show, so it had to make a special showing. You know, in honor.

Throwback Thursday- BRAVE.

So there will be a time and a place for me to go on and on about the incredible week I had once upon a time here this year, so for this particular post, I'll just share one little tidbit that still makes me smile to this day. So for some brief history, we had British soccer players at our house for a tournament and for some encouragement, my best friend and I promised that we would jump in the pool if they won their next game. For those of you who wouldn't guess this, pool water in February, even though its Arizona, is VERY cold. I'm talking chilled to the bone here. So it would be a big deal for us, yeah? Well it must've been good enough inspiration for they won their game. To the surprise of the boys, my friend and I kept to our word and jumped in the frigid waters. It took our breath away. Not EVEN joking. And the one response we got, the one that stood out for us besides the whole "You guys kept to your word, I didn't think you'd actually do it," jazz, was the one thing that made my life. One of the boys told us "You've got some major balls. " And out of all the things that guys have said to me in the past, that is by far the best compliment I have ever received from a guy.

Here, my best friend and I shiver after taking a plunge in Alaska worthy cold waters. In the end though, totally worth it.

Stylish at Work.

So the job that I currently work at, which you've probably guessed is as a coffee barista, requires us to wear dark clothing. Very.. Traditional. Totally understandable because making coffees can sometimes be messy. You know, there's milk splatters, smoothie stains, coffee drips, and whipp cream is found in places I least expect it. Well currently, I have been seeing a lot of stylish employees as of late. Now normally, I would love this, but the rule follower side of me creeps in and is a bit confused and bummed. As much as I want to don all my cute clothes and feel even that much prettier when the cute tourists come in ( we did have Ashton Kutcher stop by, so one never knows), I know that I would much rather be a good example and follow the rules, as much ad it kills me to see high lows and dresses being worn. But still, that doesn't stop me from wearing at least some cute articles of clothing!

What I wore: my sisters teal headband, a GAP oatmeal tank, and a neon striped J Crew cardigan (used).

Ten points to Slytherin!

Yep, that's the one word used to describe my attire, according to my brother when I walked out this afternoon. I guess when I think about it, I am kinda resembling the whole enemy colors of Harry Potter. But at least I'm part of the world at Hogwarts! Man how I wish every year on my birthday that I will receive a letter for my acceptance to the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Still. And this is like ten years later!

What I wore: Nic and Moe striped top (used), Odille lavender velvet skirt (used), and navy Sachelle boots (used).

All Natural.

I swear, the best beauty is the natural stuff. I was working the other day and this gal came in who looked simply so fresh and natural and her beauty literally shone through. I wish I would've taken a photo.. Next time, yes? Anyhow, I'm not gonna be a hater on makeup and such, but instead of having the mindset of makeup and primping as a way of making one pretty, I'm trying to think of them as more of beauty enhancers. Sometimes, I think people misconstrue these two ideas, so I'm hoping to help spread the true meaning. As they say,     "There are no ugly women, just lazy ones." That being said, all of these tools are there to help us highlight and accentuate the qualities that make us all unique and beautiful in our own way. So today, I was inspired by that natural beauty and went out- makeup free. And boy did that feel.. Refreshing.

What I wore: vintage gold purse necklace (used), silver bicycle necklace, black Long Talk Sally jumpsuit (bringing back Brick House- given to me so lovingly from my brother), gold Talbots cardigan (used), and men's Cole Haan shoes (used).

Cinnamon Toast Special.

So working at a coffee shop definitely has its benefits, especially to someone like me who simply lives for a cup of Joe. One if those benefits is trying all the different coffee concoctions in the book and then some. One of my specialties is what is called a Cinnamon Toast Latte that one of my coworkers came up with. I'll share it with you because hey, let's spread the love.

First off, start off with some all natural vanilla syrup and cinnamon powder mixed. It's also good if one mixes the cinnamon in the shot as well.

Next, we want to steam some cinnamon in with the milk.

When the milk has been steamed to around 145 degrees, set aside and get the shots done.

When the shots are done (17 to 29, I prefer), pour them into the syrup and cinnamon and mix.

When that is finished, slowly pour the milk in the center of the espresso so nothing is rushed. Take your time on this one.

After everything is poured, grab one packet of Sugar in the Raw and slowly sprinkle on top, creating the sugar crust finish.

And that, ladies and gents, is how one goes about making a Cinnamon Toast Latte! Enjoy. Bon appetite.

Throwback Thursday- This City Never Sleeps.

So this is a shout out to one of my most adored artists. My best friend introduced me to him way back in August, and since then, I have been what I call an "understated fan. " I'm not a follower to his every move and I don't have pictures and scream over every little detail concerning his life because let's be honest here, I find that slightly creepy for me. I much prefer holding it in and admiring why he's actually where he is today. His name? Ed Sheeran. And this is  not even scratching the surface of the major British adoration that has consumed me. We will talk about that later, so back to Ed. His music to me, is poetry with instrumentals. How cliche does that sound, right? But I'm being honest here. He's a legit talented singer/ songwriter who performed hundred of gigs a year to get where he is. He loves what he does and it shows. I admire his humble personality and for staying strong in a world of fakes and image. It make him REAL, and that's what I love about him. His music is also the soundtrack to some of the best memories in my life and continues to be there when new ones are made. So I guess this particular throwback is to the night where me and my best friend actually got to see him live in concert. The title of this post is a lyric to one of his songs, in case you were a tad confused.. Just putting that out there before I forgot. So because I'm a romantic and I cherish the day in which some guy loves me as much as I love them, i'll close with some of my favorite lyrics. "I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet. And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now."

Sassy, SUDSey, and Sensational!

Currently, I have been in the midst of a production- a 60's musical soap opera called SUDS. It has been such a fun filled musical and there are so many inside jokes and moments of pure gut wrenching laughter... Man, you gotta see it. Today we went flash mobbing around town to various local businesses, spreading the word and making people laugh. Golly, it's been a joy to be a part of.

What a MARVELous day.

In honor of my siblings adoration of superheroes, my sister and I wore our FANtastic superhero tees. Yes, it may have been inspired by the all together amazing Man of Steel movie, but I should have you know that Clark Kent is a DC COMIC character and not part of the MARVEL universe. Aside from rocking our vintage superhero apparel, we jammed in our MSMARVL vehicle. Oh yes, we are hard core fans of superheroes. So smash on. Hahaha. Get it?

Happy Father's Day.

To start things off, let's give a huge round of applause to all the dads out there. For mine, words cannot even describe how blessed I am to have such a caring man as my "dirty scootie." Inside joke, ladies and gents, I know you all have one. So besides spending the day with my precious dad, we saw the incredible Superman (Clark Kent is just.. lets just take a moment to dwell in the awesomeness that is him.. Sorry, getting distracted), then we went out to sushi where us kids then proceeded to treat Dad to dinner. Hope everyone else had a fantastic day.

What I wore: Aerie pale pink sunnies, white sheer top (used), Betsey Johnson strapless floral dress (used), vintage necklaces (used), forest green Dooney and Bourke bag (used), and COACH wedges (used)

Oh beehive..

So it's early Friday morning and I was craving my signature con panna. Basically, what it is, is two shots of straight espresso (doppio), and then a dollop of whipped cream just gracing the top. Sounds delish, don't it? Try one. It's my favorite early morning pick me up. Speaking of morning pick me ups, and then breakfast since I'm kinda on that subject, I felt very Holly Golightly. My beehive 'do is due to a current musical that I'm in and my character Dee Dee requires a " Breakfast at Tiffany's" beehive. I was super excited that it didn't look messy and ratty cause I kind of slept in it. I LOVE it! Geesh, imagine if I had a hair stylist doing my hair every morning...

Throwback Thursday- Sweeeeeet.

Ever get inspired by even the littlest things? I know I do literally all the time, and today my ensemble was inspired by cake pops. Ok, and these are not ordinary ones, but the most scrumptious and delicious ones I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Seriously. And they're homemade too, so even better!

What I wore: BP sunnies, hot pink Escada Sport top (used), minty Tommy Bahama blouse (used), and Bobeau maxi skirt (used)
